ENSAM (École nationale supérieure d'arts et métiers) is partnering with METRON, a cleantech specialist in energy efficiency for the industrial and tertiary sector, to integrate the METRON’s EMOS platform into the school's curriculum, and optimize the energy efficiency of the school’s 8 campuses. ENSAM is one of France’s leading engineering schools and one of the country’s prestigious grand écoles.

The METRON EMOS (Energy Management and Optimization Solution) platform is a centralized digital solution for visualizing, tracking in real time, to give the tools to optimize and model an entity's energy performance strategy and decarbonization roadmap.

This partnership enables ENSAM and its engineering students to learn how to control their energy consumption, and to use the platform as a pedagogical tool in their learning. It will also contribute to raising awareness and training future engineers in the importance of energy management through digital technology.

From September to March this year, a group of students devoted part of their time to optimizing the energy consumption of the Lille campus. This work not only improved the campus's energy performance, but also enhanced the students' skills in data-driven energy management, through the provision of data sets on industrial equipment.

METRON now also offers training in energy and data to ENSAM students as a complement to their existing training. A registered training organization since early 2023 and Qualiopi-certified since June 2023, METRON is making its e-learning platform, METRON Academy, available to help students build their skills in these key areas.

Energy journey Metron

This training program was co-constructed with ENSAM. METRON benefits from the school's excellence in pedagogy and teaching, in particular the Evolutive Learning Factory developed on each Campus. These scalable production lines, representative of the industry of the future, are fully digitized and equipped with digital twins to train ENSAM students and teachers. They can also be used by partner companies, including METRON.

Vincent Sciandra, CEO of METRON, commented: "We are delighted with this partnership with Arts et Métiers, which illustrates our determination to play a driving and concrete role in the training of future key players in industry and research. By giving them access to our platform and expertise, we are helping to prepare young talent and make digital technology a useful tool for meeting tomorrow's energy and climate challenges. This innovative partnership paves the way for future collaborations with other higher education establishments, helping to raise awareness among an entire generation of engineers of the role of digital in decarbonization."

Xavier Chateau, Deputy Managing Director of the Arts et Métiers group: "Accompanying companies in the conquest of their societal and environmental responsibilities by training their future leaders is a priority for Arts et Métiers. Training our students in digital energy optimization solutions, such as those developed by METRON, illustrates our shared desire to develop skills acquisition in an industrial-scale environment, like a real, evolving educational factory."
